Our Family Holiday

Pete had time off in the school holidays. First of all, my Mum and Dad took the kids away for 3 days to Canberra (they had the best time!) and Pete and I slept in, played games, went to the movies, watched a few videos, read and goofed around the house relaxing. It was bliss.

Then we thought we'd take the kids on holidays too. For the first time ever we stayed with them in a hotel. They loved it! We picked the BEAUTIFUL Blue Mountains, as the boys are SO IN LOVE with them. We spent 2 nights there and it was heaps fo fun!

We went to Scenic World, which has changed a bit. We caught the train down, looked at all the cool museum-y type stuff and ran around the board walk. Then caught the cable car back up.

We went on the Skyway, and got to watch a helicopter rescuing someone from the Furber steps. Very exciting (and noisy). We watched the helicopter fly in, lower the rescuers into the cliff face, and then the stretcher (with the bushwalker) being lifted up to the helicopter with a rescuer guy hanging off the edge. Here's a pic, but cant really see much.
Went to a heap of parks, did some bush bashing and exploring. Dropped into the lolly shop and had some really yummy pizza. Mmmmmm.

At night the kids were all in one room. It reminded me of school camps where you turn the lights out and supervise so no one makes a noise. They were all asleep within ten minutes both nights!
Here's a couple of grids. Click to enlarge. The kids on the Skyway and CablewayCharging through the bush. The boys pretty much ran everwhere! Carissa was fast too, and fluctuated between running and going on Pete's shoulders.Check out Reub's cool hair!!! Kids going crazy

Father's Day

Here's a grid of random pics of Pete with the kids.
I got the kids to dictate little messages for Pete for a poster we made for him. You can read what they said below:

Carissa
I love Daddy. I like puzzles, I like stories, cuddles and kisses. I hold Daddy’s hand. Daddy loves coke. Daddy rides his bike. Love daddy and like daddy. Daddy come home soon.

Reuben
I love daddy because he teaches me to play Chicken Little. I like it when my Daddy loves me. My daddy likes to sing songs silly. I love Coke like my Daddy. My Daddy likes to play Chicken Little.

Samuel
I love Daddy because he takes me out shopping. My Daddy likes to play Chicken Little on the Playstation. My Daddy’s the best because he loves me. I like to go on holidays with my Daddy. I like my Daddy because he plays with me. I like doing puzzles and reading really good books and stories with Daddy. I love Daddy. Daddy is funny. Daddy takes me on bushwalks. I like it. Daddy is good at the Playstation. I love you because you love me.

Pete Ha Ha

Pete ties betweeN Patrick Swayze, Johnny Depp and JESSICA SIMPSON HA HA. There's no clear/high percentage match. What do you think?

He has the Get Smart dude in there. Mate, I loved that show growing up. So cool.

Has anyone else tried it out? They crack me up!!!

The War Zone

Our lounge room today was a war zone. Justin gave the boys and Carissa new rubber band guns from america. Pete is really into it :)

He and the boys rearranged the lounge room to create forts and barracades to have a war. Carissa is into it to, but she was in bed. Here's some close ups of the "soldiers" in their favourite hide-outs. Here's a few more action shots.

Dorothy's Dance Party

Today Reub and Carissa and I want to a Dorothy Show at the RSL. Pete was there too getting swamped by all the kids in his Preschool class. He sat in the floor surrounded by dancing, noisy kids, while I relaxed in seats he kindly saved for me and CC and Roo.
Carissa was really excited to see all her little Wiggles friends come out on the stage. Reub was very subdued, but I caught him grinning @ some of Captain Featherswords antics.
.
Reub's head is still in a giant patch. Pete and I are curious and want to peek @ the wound, but have to wait....Sam was sad to have missed the drama and asked Reuben if he got to see his brains as that would have been cool.

Last Night....

Last night the easter bunny left footprints and a trail of Smarties through our house.

Last night Pete talked in his sleep:

Pete To Me: Come here...come close to me and I'll whisper you a secret. (Pete starts whispering) The easter bunny ran out of footprints. He completely ran out. He ran out in our house.

Me: (whispering back) Why?

Pete: He's all puffed out....I mean fluffed out. He has no more fluffs left. He doesn't have enough fluffs.....He needs to floss...I mean he needs to fluff.....I'm not upset though. I don't really care. I need more sleep.

So I have a Pete Sleeptalking diary, where I document his sleep conversations. I write them down instantly word for word so I don't forget in the morning. It's very amusing :)

An Update on Pete and his Housework

I think the pressure out there finally got to Pete. Tonight he had to cut open an iceblock for Reuben's dessert. Instead of using scissors like normal sane people, he got our BIGGEST kitchen knife and for some (most likely macho) reason decided to karate chop the iceblock open.

He missed.

And got his thunb and forefinger instead. he cut it with such force, it cut entirely through his fingernail on his thumb (thumbnail?). He can lift the nail up (it is cut horizontally across halfway down). Although, only trialled lifting it once (added that for all the mum's out there who are panicking, relax, he is letting it heal)

I was going to upload a photo, but didn't want to expose it to the fainthearted......

Main point: He can no longer participate in the housework.

Joking: main point is he's hurt :(
SHAME ABOUT THE HOUSEWORK THOUGH!!!

ps. Reuben took a taste of the iceblock (after I scissored it open - after attending to the wounded (dying) Pete) and decided he didn't really want it afterall.

Colour, Game's, Pea's, Osculating, The Break-in and Graves

Hey Chipmunks and Hippo's

COlOur
Colour was fully awesome and inspirational. The speakers were annointed by God and the worship was phenomenal. There were 17,000 girls in there, packing out Sydneys Acer Arena, all loving God. There were some powerful moments and cool memories.
And I got to see Colleen, Sarah, Josiah and Zoe. They are so cute! (kids and adults).
.
Pete did a mad job with the kids for 4 days and did heaps of housework. WHAT A MAN! Leave him a comment to cheer him on and continue to encourage him in the housework department...

OuR GamE NigHt
We had a cool time staying @ Deb and Katie's FunKy FLaT. On Saturday night we played Taboo in honour of Deborah's birthday. We started late and played until 1:30ish. As you can imagine, we all went a bit silly (even my mum and Coralie).

Pea's
Our famous Clairey's "Peas with Corn" became innoncently and accidently morphed into "Peas In Porn" which I yelled @ the top of my lungs (worse than my typos!). We were all in sticthes. (I was trying to says Peas in a Pod, but mixed it up with Peas with Corn).

Osculating
In Taboo, Mum gave us a clue to guess her word: "To Osculate" we went crazy when we heard it meant to kiss. I have lived my entire life not knowing this word! Seriously, can you imagine getting all romantic and saying "Let's Osculate!" or telling your pals about your osculating experience. he he he.

Overall a memorable event, as always. Why are things always much more exciting after midnight???
The BreAk-In
In other news, yesterday I locked myself out of the house, with Carissa stuck inside. The backdoor slammed while I was bringing in the washing. No spare key as we had given it to the carpet drycleaners. The neighbours were out so I ran to the Plumbing Joint, rang pete @ work (who said he had no key and to break in). Was organising the break-in with a largish plumber dude, when a kid of the secretary pulled up, home sick (a student I taught computers to last year). He came back to our house with us.

We contemplated knocking the from door in, but managed to get the bathroom window open and the 9 yr old boy climbed through (thank goodness he was there! It's only a small window and despite my love for MacGyver, I am no Macgyver). Meanwhile Carissa was happily going through my handbag and had been helping herself to biscuits from the fridge. The boy has been boasting of his adventures around the school that he broke into Mrs Rees' House.

Grave'S
NOT so good news @ my speacialist yesterday........ Am trying to stay optimistic though :)

At least Pete can't catch it through Osculating!

ThREe wHoLE dAyS!!!

Pete and I had a mad time relaxing on our holiday in Orange. (I found a great pic to sum up our moods -Pete is Sully and I am Mike, both chilling out and best pals). Thanks to my Mum and Dad for having our little munchkins for THREE WHOLE DAYS!!!!!

Not that our kids missed us too much. Sam informed us that as he left Grandma's house, he suggested to her, "Next time, let's come for 5 days and 4 nights." Although, they were a little bit extra cuddly tonight which was nice.

Pete and I have been getting into RISK lately. It's one of our pet things, where we play it in cycles. We get into it and are obsessed and hard-core and battling it out every spare chance we get as if our lives depended on it, then after thrashing it out for a few weeks, it's abandoned into the cupboard for a few months. At the mo, it's in an adrenalin-laced revival.

A cool poster I found and thought all you guys will appreciate...at least all the cool and worthy people out there will.

Back to the Monsters Inc pic, I think I'm a good match to Mike, as Pete's funny and amusing little sidekick and pep trainer. Mike's talkative, silly, dramatic, outgoing, positive and adorable....... (There are many more attributes that Mike and I share that I could indulge myself in listing, but think I will stop as I am incredibly humble) he he he! Of course, Mike does have the tendancy to snowball minor setbacks into major catastrophes....

Of course, Pete's a mad Sully, as he is Simply The Best in the Whole Incorporation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Goofing Around

The kids had a picnic outside their cubby house this morning
Carissa was busy taking her baby for a walk around the backyard
We've made it back home after our little holiday in Sydney. We had a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday, and the kids didn't go too crazy or silly while staying at Nana and Pop's (Did they Colleen?). We had a lazy holiday with family and hanging out with the kids.

Still, it feels good to be home. We have been goofing around the house and the kids have been enjoying running around the backyard half naked again. Sam's still beating me at Guess Who!

It's Pete's birthday on Monday and I've bought him the most expensive, most awesome, incredibly cool, unbelievably exciting presents. He will squeal with delight when he rips into them, he won't be able to sleep with anticipation and eagerness of waiting to get his presents.......(are you getting excited Pete? I know you're reading this.......)

Hey Brett and Lusi! It was cool seeing you guys and chatting while the kids went happy-crazy in Stassi's room. I left the photos behind (could you maybe send them??) & my pinkie toe on my left foot is bruised purple and blue from tripping out your back door! (It hurt more than I let on at the time, I try and restrain using excessive drama in public - if I was at home I would have had a bloodcurdling yelp and a few moans throughout the afternoon:)!)
