Watoto Orphanage

Children at Watoto:
A house that has been built at Watoto for the orphans:
There are 15 million orphans in africa whose parents have died of aids (Australia's population is 20 million) by 2010 it is estimated their will be 50 million orphans due to aids. That is SO HUGE!

Our church, Parkes AOG is fundraising to build a house at the Watoto Orphanage which will house 8-10 orphans and give them a mum (who is a woman with no place of her own , she brings with her her own children, and then 'adopts' the orphans and they live in the house and become a family.)

Not only will we be giving the children a home, we will be saving them from becoming part of the "invisible children" of Uganda who get stolen and brainwashed and become soldiers in the rebels army. (Like in Blood Diamond...has anyone seen that movie? GO GET IT OUT!!!)

We are so pumped about being able to rise up and help save some children. They will learn about out Gods love for them and his amazing plan for their lives. it's a huge undertaking and we're only at the beginning. So this Sunday, church was packed out with cadbury Fundraising, this week an article my Mum wrote will be in the Champion Post (Parkes local paper) and we will be screening the documentary "The Invisible Children" (SO powerful and heartbreaking) in one of our council rooms to influencial people in the district to raise support.

Our humble, yummy and exciting beginnings!!!!

that's really cool. My church in Sydney had the Watato choir concert on Sunday morning, it was super and touching! I'm looking forward to being a part of the Parkes campaign to raise money for Watoto Gulu.
